Curtiss F9C-2 Sparrowhawk

NATIONAL AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM
SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION
The tiny Curtiss F9C-2 Sparrowhawks operated from U.S. Navy dirigibles in the 1930s. Special trapezes were lowered from the dirigibles onto which the pilot would skillfully guide the aircraft's overhead hook. The fighters were launched in the reverse of this procedure.
