Grumman S2F Tracker

S2F TRACKER
The first carrier-based aircraft designed to detect, identify, and destroy enemy submarines, the S2F Tracker is currently in extensive use with Navy fleet units. This card depicts the third generation of the S2F series, the S2F-3. The newest model of the Tracker has basically the same airframe as its predecessors but carries a more sophisticated hunter-killer electronic system. The plane is equipped with the most modern detection and destructive devices, utilizing radar, sonobuoys, and MAD (Magnetic Anomoly Detection) boom to pinpoint the whereabouts of enemy subs. S2F's use torpedoes, rockets, or depth charges to make their "kill." Its navigational devices enable the Tracker to operate during the severest of weather conditions.
